Sarah Spafford-Ricci

Principal Conservator of Fine Art
Sarah co-founded the FSR Conservation lab in 1997. She has Bachelor of Science from University of Saskatchewan, (Saskatoon, SK) and a Master of Art Conservation from Queen’s University (Kingston ON). Prior to her decades in private practice, Sarah worked in the conservation labs of the MacKenzie Art Gallery (Regina, SK), the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, ON), the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (Regina, SK), the Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto, ON) and the Glenbow Museum (Calgary, AB). Sarah’s years of experience in preventive conservation and in treatment conservation for art in many media and historic materials, give her an unparalleled understanding of the deterioration of art and objects, and their treatment.

Tara L. Fraser

Senior Conservator of Paper
Tara co-founded the FSR Conservation lab in 1997. She has a Master of Art Conservation (abt) from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), with a Certificate in Chemistry from University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, SK). She has worked in the conservation labs of the Vancouver Art Gallery, Oxford University (Oxford, UK), Queen’s University (Kingston, ON), the Saskatchewan Archives (Regina, SK) and the Smithsonian Archives (Washington, DC). She is also an adjunct professor in preservation at the University of British Columbia, Master of Archival and Library Sciences program. Tara has extensive experience and knowledge in the conservation and preservation of fine art paper, archival material and paper in mixed media fine art.

Senior Conservator of Paintings
Christine holds a Master of Arts in Conservation of Easel Paintings from the University of Northumbria, England and a Master of Arts (Hons) in History of Art from Aberdeen University, Scotland. She has worked in the labs of Historic Scotland, the National Gallery of Scotland and a private studio in Boston, MA. She has decades of experience at the FSR lab, joining our team in 2003. Christine has a solid knowledge in the treatment of traditional paintings, particularly European and early North American paintings, and possesses unparalleled technical skills.

Conservator of Objects and Public Art
Daniel holds a Master of Arts in Cultural Materials Conservation in Objects Conservation from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and a B.A. (Hons) in Art History from the University of British Columbia (museology and Indigenous arts and culture). He has worked in conservation with the City of Seattle Public Art (WA), at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC Vancouver and at a private conservation studio in San Francisco, CA. Daniel joined the FSR conservation lab in 2020. He has well developed skills in examination, maintenance and treatment of objects, monuments and public art with a detailed knowledge in the production of durable art for public spaces.

Conservator of Paintings
Kristy holds a Master of Art Conservation from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON) in paintings conservation, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Art History from the University of Toronto, and an Ontario College Diploma in Art and Art History from Sheridan College in Toronto. Kristy has worked in the labs of the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa) and in the private conservation labs of Anita Henry Conservation (Montreal), and Toronto Art Restoration. She joined the FSR conservation team in 2021. Kristy has years of experience examining and assessing artworks and possesses the latest knowledge and techniques for treatment of paintings and contemporary art.
