Using our Services
We examine and conserve art, objects and archival materials with a wide range of value – from an irreplaceable family portrait with sentimental value to a contemporary artwork with high financial value. We assist collectors and cultural facilities to understand the condition of their objects and their conservation needs, and we work to aid in the preservation and conservation of a single object, or a collection. Our lab is the best choice for collectors and art custodians seeking high quality and thoughtful conservation work to museum ethical standards.
Examinations and Proposals
By phone or email, we can sometimes provide a very brief opinion about condition and conservation treatment of an artwork or object free of charge, depending on our schedule. This will not include a written cost estimate nor a proposal, both of which take time to prepare.
We can examine art and archival material in our lab or from sufficient images and provide a proposal for conservation treatment with cost estimate range, for a fee of $200. plus GST. per standard object or artwork. $100. of this fee is credited toward work undertaken. The fee assumes an approximate 2 hour time frame, so complex objects or artworks may require more time and cost, based on our hourly rate. Examinations and proposals out of the lab are charged an hourly rate for travel, examination and report writing, plus a mileage charge.
Conservation Consulting
We work with collectors, curators, collection managers, archivists, insurance adjusters and other professionals in the cultural and corporate world, to improve the care, preservation and conservation of objects and collections. All of our conservators have worked in a public museum, art gallery or archives, and we are able to dovetail conservation improvements with other institutional functions. If you have a project where you feel our services would be of benefit, we are happy to discuss it with you. Please consult our pages for more information on our services in examination, condition reports and condition surveys, conservation assessment of collections and facilities, collection move assistance and post-disaster assessment of objects for condition and recovery of objects.
