Roland Gissing:  The Oil Rig, 1951
oil on canvas, 30″ x 23″

Project Highlights

The painting was in a flood, immersed in water for 4 days under a few stories of water.  After it was rescued, it was driven overnight to our lab.  Paintings conservators dried the painting in a controlled manner, consolidated the flaking paint, cleaned the painting front and back, reconstituted the blanched paint to restore its original saturation, and restored paint losses.
