Highlights
A public art sculpture was covered in dirt, guano and biological growth with corrosion bleeding onto the stone plinth. Our conservator cleaned the sculpture using wet cleaning, corrosion removal solutions and mechanical cleaning, and reduced staining on the plinth with a prepared poultice. Areas of the composite bronze were re-patinated locally, and the sculpture received a coating of protective wax.
mixed media sculpture by famed sculptor, Barbara Hepworth, was aged with broken strings, bronze corrosion and chips in the slate base. The objects conservator cleaned the sculpture back to its gleaming original surface, cleaned, repaired and strengthened the strings and restored the base to its original whole.
