Gerard Class: Tuning Fork, 1968
Cor-ten steel, Stoil on canvas, 7 x 2 x 2.6 meters
Project Highlights
This sculpture at University of British Columbia had some coloured biological growth, and areas of spray paint tagging. There were past unsuccessful in-house graffiti removal attempts which disturbed the patina. Our conservator used dry ice blasting to remove the crust of graffiti, biological growth, contact rust and disturbed patina, maintaining the detailed original surface texture and the resilient patina characteristic of Cor-ten.
